Oregon Public Employees 105% funded

Oregon Public Employees Retirement Fund, Salem, was 105% funded as of March 31, said Ley Garnett, spokesman for the Oregon Investment Council, Tigard, which manages the $62.1 billion fund. A report by Strategic Investment Solutions, which performed an asset-liability study for the fund, said the funded status would allow officials to adopt a less risky asset allocation and still achieve its 8% annual return assumption. However, fund officials do not plan to change the asset allocation, Mr. Garnett said

Four years ago, the fund was projected to have a $17 billion unfunded liability by 2007. At that time, fund officials reduced benefits for new employees and increased investments in real estate and private equity.
